LANSING – State Representative Vincent Gregory (D-Southfield) and State Senator Gilda Jacobs (D-Huntington Woods) today applauded the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) board for approving a High Technology Employment Tax Credit that will create over 500 jobs in the state.
"Because of the incentives offered to a number of growing industries, we are seeing companies expanding their operations here in Oakland County," Rep. Gregory said. "These companies offer our residents good-paying jobs and stimulate our economy, making it a win-win situation for both our residents and our economy. I look forward to seeing what other interesting developments are in store for our community."
MEGA approved a High Technology Employment Tax Credit for Secure-24 Inc., the company to expand in Southfield, where it currently has 79 employees. Secure-24 is a provider of information security and managed hosting services. The company plans to lease an office building in Southfield to house its headquarters and allow state-of-the-art managed hosting, disaster recovery and managed services. The project is expected to require a $3.7 Million investment and create 503 total jobs, including 263 in Oakland County.
"This is exciting news for Southfield and Michigan that Secure-24 has decided to expand their presence here in our state," Senator Jacobs said. "These are exactly the kind of new high-tech jobs we need in Michigan to grow our economy, keep our talented workers and attract new workers and their families in the future."
